weekend pretties

I realized I never showed any pictures from our trip last month to NYC or from Salt Lake.  Today I’m sharing a handful from New York (plus the regular Friday links at the bottom).  It was so cold when we were there and my feet hurt from all the walking, but it was such a fun trip anyway.  I love New York and have been twice now; once in November and once in January.  I think next time I need to experience the city when it’s warm out!

We stayed in the so fabulous Standard Hotel.  It was so nice.  Every room had a view – and look at that view!  Very mod rooms, with floor to ceiling windows,  the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in at a hotel and great restaurants downstairs.  Just Lovely.  Highly recommend.

No kidding, there was an ice skating rink at the hotel.  I woke up one morning to this lone skater giving me a show.  It was so quiet and the traffic outside hadn’t picked up yet so it was a really peaceful moment.  Parker and I got out there one night and it was hilarious.  We do not skate.  :)

That’s the High Line!  Do you know about it?  It’s an old elevated railroad that they were going to tear down, but some New Yorkers saved it and turned it in to a walking park.  It has some of the best views of the city and there’s little areas all along that have benches and places to lounge around when it’s warm.  It runs right under The Standard so we of course got out there and walked part of it.

That’s all for  now.  I didn’t take my camera around during the day much because it made my bag so heavy and I didn’t want to get scoliosis.  Maybe next time.

For now though, here are some fun links for your weekend!  Hope you have a good one.  Parker has a work thing all day tomorrow so I am using the time to get caught up on some work and sneak out for a little while with some friends.

See you back on Monday!

Speaking of New York, how great is this series by NYC artist Jose Guizar?

I can’t remember if I posted this before, but it’s so great: Window washers dress up as super heros to wash the windows of a children’s hospital.

FASCINATING new documentary coming about an ordinary woman who, when she passed, was revealed to be one of the world’s best street photographers, unbeknownst to anyone while she was living.  It’s kind of hard to explain, you have to see the trailer.

This bride’s dress!  And her hair with flowers everywhere.  Love it all.

This is fun: Model-Morphosis

Brilliant: Utility Bucket Ottoman.

Would have loved to have had these wedding invitations for our wedding.  Ah well!

Where Chefs Eat.

A profile on one of my most favorite living artists, Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Co. (I’m obsessed with everything she does.)

This is going on the menu for next week.

Do you do anything special to watch the Oscars (which are Sunday)?  How about these three snacks?

NYC is so romantic, isn’t it? Trying to enjoy travel as married non-parents while it lasts :)

First of all I would like to say fantastic blog!
I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you do not mind.
I was interested to find out how you center yourself and clear
your thoughts before writing. I have had a hard time clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out.
I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to
15 minutes tend to be lost just trying to figure
out how to begin. Any ideas or hints? Kudos!

Thanks for some other informative site. Where else could
I am getting that kind of info written in such an ideal manner?
I have a challenge that I’m just now working on, and I have been at the look
    out for such information.
