Last week’s bicycle ride around DC was nothing short of idyllic.Obligatory selfies were taken. PS – I’ve developed a freckle on my lip (not cancer, I had it checked). PPS – did you know you can have freckles lasered off?And museums were visited.I rode around for hours in flare jeans and high heeled clogs like a pro.
And then near the end of my bike ride, I stopped here to eat popsicle and marvel at our beautiful country, and I thought about Forrest Gump and Martin Luther King Jr….and then felt horribly ashamed that Forrest came to mind first.
Hey you guys, happy Friday. I thought I would share some of my photos from my trip to DC last week since it was way more interesting than this week has been. I have to tell you – those two days spent visiting museums and riding around in the early fall sunshine of our nation’s capital was the most fun I’ve had in a long time. And I was completely by myself the whole time! Well, not the whole time, I got to meet back up with Parker after his conference activities were over for the day, but all of my exploring was done solo. Have you ever taken a trip by yourself? I found it so refreshing! I just did and saw whatever I felt like. And the weather – I’m telling you, it couldn’t have been prettier if it tried. That short trip will go down as one of my favorite parts of 2013 I think.
Today I’m interviewing a few contractors to discuss renovating our house (which we close on this coming Monday and I’m so excited about I could scream!). The biggest part is going to be the kitchen. We’re gutting it and starting over from scratch. So hopefully we find someone we really like and want to work with in our meetings.
I hope you have a great weekend! I have a feeling this will be our last chilled out weekend for a while so I think we’ll take advantage of it and veg out (I just started watching Orange is the New Black and am hooked – have you seen it?). Here are some fun links to browse through if you’re in the mood.

Such a great idea for a party.
And this is the scene I played in my head while sitting on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in the photo above. It’s a good one, makes me tear up every time.
