On Monday, I got a new camera (a Canon 5D Mark III) and I’m so in love – this is me acting like a giddy school girl with a new crush after just receiving it.
Some treasures passed down to my husband and I from his grandparents.
Hey! Happy Friday! How was your week? Mine was busybusy but spent with family, friends and beautiful weather. Parker’s grandfather passed away (he was nearly 90, and had been sick) so we travelled to North Carolina for the funeral Tuesday and it was a lovely service. He’s been laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Carolyn, in the most peaceful and beautiful place – in a secluded cemetery in a clearing on a mountain, among the trees, just down the road from his house. Truly lovely – it was a celebration of his life, rather than a sorrowful and sad occasion, just like he wanted.
Afterwards, the first attempts at cleaning out the house were made and Parker and I got to take home some sentimental pieces that belonged to his grandparents (some in the pictures above). Oh! Also – I found out last week that he and Caroline (Parker’s grandparents) were married on the exact same day in the exact same year as my own grandparents. December 27, 1949. Isn’t that just so strange and wonderful? Maybe they can have couples dates in heaven when my grandmother meets them up there. :)
Wednesday, I got to play photographer for a day and shoot a new children’s art line that a couple of old friends have started. And guys – it’s so good! I can’t wait to share all the details of that with you.
I’m so excited for this weekend – the unofficial start to summer! Parker and I are headed south in the morning to Albany, Georgia for his family reunion. I’m excited to meet new family and spent hours in the kitchen last night baking strawberry pocket pies to bring in hopes of scoring points with them :) – I’ll be posting that recipe on Monday, so check back!
Hope you have a great weekend! Here are some fun links to browse through if you find yourself in that kind of mood:
