And just like that, we’re four days in to the third month of the year. Is it flying by as quickly for you as it is me? Spring keeps teasing to come out to play, then cold Mr. Winter steps back in front of the line and I realize it’s still early. (PS – this made me laugh out loud).
I promised to keep better track of my new year’s resolutions this year so I’m checking in again today. Has anyone else stuck to any resolutions this far? I have to say, I’m feeling pretty accomplished to have lasted this long with a lot of them. I don’t think any of my previous resolutions lasted for more than a week or two.
Resolution 1: The Obligatory Eat Better and Exercise More Resolution. I can say, loud and proud, that I have not missed one scheduled workout since I started doing the Jamie Eason LiveFit Trainer. I started February 4, so it’s been a month and I am so completely in love with the program. I will have to do a review of it when I finish (2 more months to go), but for now I am feeling really strong and enjoying my time in the gym more than ever before. And I’ve gotten my act together with nutrition too (as you may have noticed here, here, here, and here) so I feel really good.
Resolution 2: Make a Life List. Yep, I did this one, but I’ve been slacking on actually doing the things on the list. I think I will make a pretty art print of it and frame it to keep me motivated and help me remember.
Resolution 3: Photograph More. All the photos you see on this blog, unless otherwise noted, are my own doing so yes, I would say I’ve been photographing more. It’s still a muscle that needs work and I have some ideas of more artistic images to make, but I need to make time.
Resolution 4: Less Coffee, More Tea. Ah yes! I can say that I have definitely been good about this one. I’ve been drinking orange tea most mornings, and coffee some mornings when I need a boost, but I’ve successfully given up cream and sugar which was my main frustration with the habit. I’ve found a splash of my favorite liquid stevia makes it perfectly enjoyable with 0 calories.
Resolution 5: Less Internet, More Books. Fat, fat fail. I did read one book this month (omgSOgood!) but otherwise my internet habit is just as bad as usual. Especially at night, I need to put away the iPad and read. I think it takes me longer to fall asleep when I’m on it and I’m not really doing anything productive. I’ll work on that more this month.
Resolution 6: “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” This is my favorite one. When I slip up, whether by eating something I probably shouldn’t (which is happening less) or when I don’t get to a task I promised I would that day or feel like I’m not succeeding at something as quickly as I would like, I just keep repeating to myself, “It’s a journey. Try again.” And that totally helps. I don’t get down, I just get going.
