Life To Do List

Life To Do list (All Sorts of Pretty)Last night as I hopped in to bed, I had all sorts of stuff in my head that just needed to be put down on paper.  Does that ever happen to you?  Having just come off the trip of a lifetime, I’m finding returning to normal life a little difficult.  Traveling like we did for two weeks (constantly moving, living out of one carry-on size suitcase each, having adventures everyday) was eye opening for me in the best possible way.

It made me realize more than ever that simplicity is what I need in life.  Having fewer things means having fewer things to keep up with.  When we got home yesterday, I looked around at all our “stuff” that we managed to live without for two weeks and wanted it (mostly) all gone.  It’s cluttering my home and my mind.   I feel a huge purge coming on – no room, nook or cranny is safe.

Not having internet access 24/7 meant fewer distractions – it meant being present in the moment and finding real life to be entertained by.

red quinoa salad with kale, avocado, radish, edamame, tomato and feta.The food we ate was amazing – lots of not-so-healthy deliciousness, but we did get to experience the West’s abundant and incredible produce as well and loved trying new things.  It’s inspired me to think outside the box and eat lots of veggies inspired by our travels (though our selection of fresh fruits and veggies is remarkably sparse compared to what we saw in California…grocery shopping yesterday was kind of depressing).

Yoga is something I’ve gotten away from since I moved to the suburbs and found yoga studios don’t exist anywhere close to my house.  But I miss it so much!  When I was regularly practicing Ashtanga Yoga, it felt therapeutic.  I was practicing patience, openness, kindness, the ability to be present, clear my mind, and to listen more carefully to my inner voice – oh yeah and it was a good way to sweat too.  I know someday we’ll live closer to a studio where I can practice regularly, but for  now, I’ve got to figure something out.  The benefits of traditional yoga are so wonderful, and made me feel so great, that I need to get back to my practice.  Not sure how, but I need to.

Also on my list: create!  This blog is an outlet for me create and share pretty things and I’m excited to see how our trip west inspires me here.  For now though, I’m off to run (also on my list) and to tackle the mountain of laundry waiting for me.  Happy Monday :)

    I definitely get irked while people consider worries that they plainly do not
    know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and defined out the whole thing
