This is my grandfather at our wedding this past summer. He and my grandmother let Parker and I host our wedding in their backyard (it was the most, most, most perfect location) and while he was suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s, he had a great time and smiled and told me I looked pretty. It was the most wonderful family gathering imaginable, and the last one there would be of all of us together. He’s just passed away, peacefully, last night and although we knew it was coming, seeing a loved one pass is never easy, is it? He had a long, beautiful life with my grandmother and raised two incredible men (my dad being one of them) which is the most any of us can ask for I suppose. I will miss him dearly.
I’m headed up to Maryland to be with my family and go to his funeral, so it will be a little quiet around here for the rest of the week. I’ve already got some Daily Doses of Pretty scheduled though, so those will go on as usual.
Hug your loved ones tight and tell them you love them. The days are long, but the years are short.
