I had this idea to cheer up a friend who’s been feeling a little down lately. I thought a handmade card telling her she’s pretty would make her smile and make her feel good because, honestly, who doesn’t like to be told they’re pretty? It’s a silly message and doesn’t feel heavy, but is a nice way to cheer someone up, even if it’s just for a moment. You can hand write a little message on the back, or let the simple message speak for itself.
Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our own daily lives that it’s easy to forget to dole out little, unexpected acts of kindness to others. It will cheer them up for sure, but it also makes the giver feel really good too. Win-win!
This is a really easy project that just takes a few minutes. I had this paper edge punch from Martha Stewart that has been sitting in my closet for a while that I thought would add the perfect embellishment to such a “pretty” card. I quickly created the text and faded coral color in Photoshop (which you can download, here), printed it on card stock, cut down to size and then punched all around the page. Paper Source sells these great square envelopes in about a million different colors that really add a custom touch. Materials
white card stock paper
“You are pretty” download + printer (or, just hand write it!)
Martha Stewart Crafts Punch Around the Page, Double Arches
Instructions
Download file, print out on regular white 8.5″ x 11″ card stock paper, and cut down to 6″ using the guides. Using the puncher, start with a corner first, then go along the edge with the edge punch. I like to use it upside down so I can see exactly where to line everything up. When finished, write a little note on the back and stick in your fancy envelope before delivering to the special recipient!
Tip: If this is your first time using an edge puncher, practice on a blank sheet first as it take a little getting used to.
Did you do the corners of this beautiful piece with the same punch??? It is a beautiful thought and would certainly cheer up people.
Yep! The kit comes with a corner punch and edge punch for a seamless look. Neat huh?
